MIRI: In creating a successful human capital resource, strong support from parents are very much needed, pointed out Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan.
Therefore, he said more activities should be held to strengthen ties between parents and the school’s management.
His text of speech was read by councillor Kor Ek Chong at the launch of ‘Pesta Lutong 2010’ organised by SK Lutong Parent Teacher Association (PTA)at SJK Chung Hua Lutong hall yesterday morning.
Also present were SK Lutong headmaster Mathew Mounsey and the school’s PTA chairlady Misiah Abdullah.
“The government always gives priority to the development of education as it is an essential platform that produces quality human capital resource,” said Dr Chan, adding that PTAs could help by playing a pro-active role.
Meanwhile, for the school’s headmaster, this Pesta Lutong would be his last, before he goes for his retirement on Aug 14.
More than 1,000 people including parents and members of the public thronged the school as early as 8am yesterday at the carnival.
A total of 18 booths selling food and beverage were set up during the fundraising sales with the organisers targeting a collection of RM30,000.
